Random Fringing
Or do I mean Fringe Randomness? Whatever: Mostly I mean I keep making plans and then not quite managing to follow them.
Had planned to hit bobrauschenbergamerica at 2 o’clock, but found myself four blocks away with five minutes to go, so made a last-minute course correction and checked out Cheating at Poker (and other scams) instead. May do an actual review later, but for now suffice it to say it’s snappy good fun with card tricks, and not quite 40 minutes, so …
Now I’m off, ’cause I’m determined not to miss my 4:30 Cautionary Tales … , and I need to grab a bite before that.

Just caught most of AIR HEART at the hardware store turned theater space on D Street now called The Scientarium (down the street from Woolly and around corner from Teaism). I say most of because unfortunately the performer had an unprecedented malfunction with the cool rotating airplane sculture on which she performs much of the show and had to stop before we saw the end. Suffice it to say its worth checking out, involves her aerialist climbing on and spinning on the plane while performing as, and reflecting on, Amelia Earhart and her accomplishments as a pilot and as a woman in the 20s & 30s, the lure of flying and her disappearance (no, she didn’t end up on the LOST island, but that be next season’s plot). Unique and really lovely.

fear not, theaterhound, the airplane was welded back together this evening and looks in good condition for future performances.

Sweet Sam,
1. Stalking is not very effective if you publicize that you are doing it.
2. Thanks for spreading the word about Cautionary Tales/Trixie Tickles.
3. If I ever go through a Mrs. Robinson phase, you will totally be first on my list. (I mean, WTF is a “face book diary”?? *assume elderly voice* When I was yer age, we had to dial up to connect to the internet. When I was yer age we didn’t have online diaries, we wrote about things in spiral bound notebooks and on little scraps of napkins, and we liked it that way. When I was yer age we stalked people by hiding in the bushes outside their house, not by writing about it on alternative weekly blogs…
Anyhow–keep up the good work fringe folk.

It’s a shame you missed bobrauschenbergamerica. It’s a really cool show. I posted some photos on the Fringe Photoblog:
