Stupid Liberals Flock To Stupid Libertarian Astroturf Scheme To Privatize TSA

Jesus Christ, stupid liberals. So since I last checked RSS the ACLU and that lady who started Firedoglake have joined the Great American Airport Security Prude Out? GAH!? THELEFTISSODUMBTHELEFTISSODUMBTHELEFTISSODUMBSODUMBSODUMBWHYGODWHY… anyway, appropriately enough we can blame Ralph Nader, the original "Democracy: A Lot Like Consumerism!" leftist, who was in on this crusade entire days before original certifiably "smokin hot" Libertarian activist Meg McLain got arrested for raising a shitfit at the Fort Lauderdale Airport. I obviously deserve this for voting for the guy in 2000, but isn't it just like the Left to quietly take a kind of strident ACLU-y stand on something and get no attention for it until some Koch-funded Astroturf campaign egged on by some chump in Oceanside and a girl who loves free markets so much she is auctioning off space on her body for the tattoo design of your choice—[[GEORGE SOROS IF YOU ARE READING HA HA RIGHT?]]—by which point the right has already deployed some suspiciously prepared-seeming talking points such as:

I think it’s high time we privatized airport security. Let the airlines handle it. They have the motivation (nobody is going to fly if the feel unsafe), and if the government would get off their collective backs, they’d have the resources as well.

Ah yes, now privatizing the thing is sure put an end to all this gratuitously violation of human rights, and if you don't believe me just ask Erik Prince, unless he is still hiding out in Dubai as if the stupid left is actually going to get its shit together and prosecute him. Come back, Erik Prince! Fox News is looking for someone with "gravitas" to co-host the new Christine O'Donnell vehicle (Motto: She doesn't even touch her own junk!) and everyone agrees you'd be perfect…

Wait. You vote for WHO in 2000?

  2. #2

"if you don't believe me just Erik Prince..."
this doesn't make sense... is there a word missing before Erik?

  3. #3

    Gah! thanks gc!

And yeah Choire, I wasn't in a swing state, not that the whole "voting" thing really seemed to matter much that year anyway.

To see what serious Libertarians are actually doing, please see: http://www.Libertarian-International.org

Libertarians are simultaneously being attacked by the right for warning that TSA and immigration rules will cause a regime to check papers and internal passports and abuses. While privatization has merits such as legal liability for abuses, the Libertarian critique is centered on attacking the undermining of civil liberties by TSA and terrorism hysteria in the first place. For many articles on the subject, see the opinion e-zine lewrockwell.com

I voted for Nader in 2000 too. In D.C., which Gore won 85 to 9 (to 5 for Nader). AND I traded my vote on that NaderTrader site, so I got a Nader voter in Florida to vote for Gore even though I was already planning to vote for Nader up here.

Of course, that Nader voter probably accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan.

Ah, the old "legal liability for abuses" thing. Well. Did I mention Erik Prince…

So, we are supposed to be happy that former DHS head Chertoff is getting rich off the airport scanner thing?

I guess this guy did not fly anywhere prior to 9/11. Private companies were supposedly doing security checks and protecting aircraft, crew, and passengers when the thugs decided to turn an aircraft into a weapon of mass destruction. From what we know, it only took some lessons in flying at private US companies and a few small weapons to accomplish their crimes against humanity, turn our economy upside down, start two wars and institute a worldwide round of hate against both muslims and christians by each other.

OK, now let’s hear the next "get the government out" of airline security and whatever else these crazy people can spew out into the already crowded hot air.

WTF? Forget the politics, why is this even posted on here? This stream-of-consciousness garbage on your website? On the main page? Really? You all are seriously going down hill. Loose Lips, Amanda Hess and two or three of your main writers should go start their own company. You guys have really gone downhill in the last year or so.

"Private companies were supposedly doing security checks and protecting aircraft, crew, and passengers when the thugs..."

When the thugs took legally permitted items through security and used them to take over airplanes? Yeah, I remember that. Their success had nothing to do with the ownership of the security. In the years since, we've accepted new intrusions against our 4th amendment rights in a pathetic CNN-fueled freakout each time someone succeeded in getting moderately explosive material through foreign airports. Each attempt has been stopped by passengers, who are also aware of the famous 9/11 attack and don't much want to be on a kamikaze mission. The ownership of US airport security could not be more irrelevant to everything that has happened in the past ten years, except for all those governmentally backed-up searched and an easy relationship between the screeners and police, who are happy to have a new way to profit from millions of searches without cause.

Stupid liberals, indeed. I don't much care who owns the TSA, I care about their escalating civil rights abuses permitted by such an easily manipulated populace.

Narrow minded liberal pinheads so darn pathetic
