And the last two dates of Fenton Street Market, Saturday October 23 and 30, are super special as they are moving to the brand new Veterans Plaza. Next year’s market will take place solely in the new space located at the corner of Fenton Street and Ellsworth Avenue.

Fenton Street Market is a great place for new vendors to the craft show circuit to test the waters in a laid back environment. Plus there is a lot of foot traffic that naturally comes through the Silver Spring area so vendors are bound to have many window shoppers stop by their booths.

Space is still available at each Saturday’s market, although space for the special October 23 and 30 shows are limited and will fill up quickly. Applications are available online here and most questions can be answered on the F.A.Q.

Open to all crafters and makers and vintage collectors! Silver Spring, Maryland’s Fenton Street Market is back and will be having markets every weekend this season.

The market will have more than 60 vendors selling everything from antiques to handmade crafts to imported goods to food. There will also be live music and special events for the community. Fenton Street Market will consider all applicants and they are particularly looking for those “with an emphasis on quality and variety of product to keep the market fresh.”

The Handmade Mart is gearing up for a full day of awesome crafts, live indie rock, and tons of outdoor crafty fun…. so if you knit, make pottery, draw comics, sew clothes, screen print or make anything by hand, the Handmade Mart is a great place for you to sell and showcase your wares.

This Saturday in Downtown Silver Spring is the Holiday-Shop-n-Stroll. Handmade Mart and FRESHFARM Markets are teaming up, meaning there will be approximately 50 artisans and crafters selling their handmade products plus local  produce from the farmers market vendors. For those inspired to get crafty at the event, Art Spring (the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center retail store) will be hosting an ornament-making workshop.

It’s a shoppers paradise for those looking to support local/handmade, plus a quick stop for all those Christmas shopper slackers who still need to begin their holiday shopping. You can find everything from silk-screened cards and posters, to jewelry, to handmade soaps and body products. Here are some of my favorites.

Crafty Bastards 2009 planning is underway and vendor applications will be availble soon!  Please forgive the outdated info on the site.  We are working to get everything updated.  A couple notes about Crafty Bastards 2009.

There will not be a Crafty Bastards show in Silver Spring, MD in June. However, the folks at Pyramid Atlantic have paired up with Party Hat Rodeo (aka Kimberly Dorn) and 60Bugs (aka Debbie Lee) to produce the first ever Handmade Mart in Silver Spring.  Vendor applications are being accepted through April 30th.  Read more here.

The fall showing of Crafty Bastards is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 from 10am-5pm in Washington, DC.  For 2009, the City Paper has joined forces with Hello Craft and promises another awesome showing of handmade goods you won’t find anywhere else in the area.
