Best Place to Buy Faux Taxidermy
I remember the first time my twins saw real taxidermy in a family friend’s house. We walked into the room and immediately looked up at not 1, but 3 mounted deer heads over the mantle. “Why are they stuck in the wall?” one of my kids asked. “They are the family pets,” I said. “And they died, so they got stuck in the wall.” This seemed to make sense to 3 year olds, so I didn’t have to go any further.
Now that my twins are 5, they understand taxidermy because we have our very own faux-taxidermy pieces. This year, we have been pouring over the Crafty Bastards vendor gallery looking for new friends to add to our walls. And I am excited to say that there are going to be lots to choose from on October 2.
A new vendor this year is Horrible Adorables, who create quirky faux-taxidermy mounts of strange creatures. The odd animals that have been discovered and captured come from the unique imagination of their maker, Jordan Perme. Each creation is one-of-a-kind and constructed with foam, real glass taxidermy eyes and A LOT of wool felt.
Cherrybox Studios has been killing cute things since 2005. It is always open season at their Plushkill Forest!
Odds are that you will be able to fill all of your faux taxidermy needs at Crafty Bastards on October 2, 2010 in Adams Morgan!
