Let’s Hear It For The Crafty Guys

NPR recently posted an illustrated video feature about Men in Craft. It features audio interviews from this year’s Crafty Bastards Arts and Crafts Fair with Ben Claassen III, whose DIRTFARM comics regularly appear in Washington City Paper, and Elijah Wyman of Figs and Ginger.

It’s interesting how they point out a lot of men you see in the craft world have more behind-the-scenes types of roles. They are the devoted boyfriends, husbands and friends who support their female crafters by working booths at shows and providing emotional support. That being said, there are some pretty fantastic male crafters making these days without or without the collaboration with women. Here are a few more of my favorites that were at this year’s Crafty Bastards:

Philip Barbato

Stephen of Something’s Hiding In Here

Sean Hennessey

And some non-Crafty Bastards:

Matte Stephens

John of Yarn Ball Boogie

Jose Pulido

Did I miss one of your favorite male crafters? Please share with us by leaving a comment.
