Isn't it amazing how someone can live here for such a short time and effortlessly nail D.C.'s essence?

Manning's experience of meeting 10 people? If you substitute "sob quietly in your office" for "walk down the street" and "recently crushed dream" for "cause and purpose" (and stretch out the time required to meet 10 people to three-and-a-half years) THIS HAS BEEN EXACTLY MY EXPERIENCE.

MOREOVER, the house, as Zak notes, "feels like a landmark to what the rest of America sees when they visit the District." There are eagle statues throughout, stately columns on the main floor, and the bedrooms are all named for great political figures. Same here at my joint! I am currently writing from the "Morton Kondracke Room," which looks out on my backyard and borders the "Mary Margaret Whipple Kitchen," just off the "Paul Trible Entryway."

DCist is reporting that the Real World DC cast may be arriving right friggin now. Has anybody been this excited by the arrival of more d-bags into D.C.? DCist writes:

"A tipster just texted that the D.C. Real World cast appears to be arriving as we speak — she reports seeing a blonde girl with a suitcase walking through Dupont Circle, looking clueless and being trailed by a camera crew."

Of course, we've been doing our own serious blogging on the subject over at Housing Complex. The Anti-Real World DC blog has pictures (see above) capturing the apparent awkward move in.

Nothing has stirred up the blogosphere like Real World DC. There's been the fighting over who got the scoop over nailing down the location of the Real World house, the inevitable anti-Real World D.C. blog, and the inevitable house porn from inside 2000 S Street NW.  Now things are heating up with the inevitable launching of a Pro Real World D.C. Blog.

The anti-Real World blog inevitably has struck back! They smell an MTV-assisted sneaky marketing campaign! They write:

"At 8:01 this morning, the ProRealWorldDCblog went live to an audience of…well 5 our ARWDC’s editors. While many of our contributors’ better professional instincts tell us not to bring attention to them because they are so far behind the curve on this, from an entertainment perspective, it was too good NOT to share. The blog REEKS of astroturfing....

I am left to believe this is MTV’s half hearted attempt to counter our mojo, and hell, I welcome them to the table. I do ask them for one favor: instead of trying to hide behind fake community blogs and ANC meetings, why don’t you come out from behind the curtain and engage us directly"

The fight is so on. Did the pro Real World folks respond?

It appears that the pro people haven't responded yet. But they are seeking contributors:

The pending chaos at 2000 S St. NW is on the agenda for tomorrow's ANC2B meeting at the JCC (16th and Q streets). Among topics up for discussion: How MTV's washed-up reality show (really: Is there supposed to be life after Puck?) will reduce parking in front of the building from 12 spots to four. According to Community Matters DC, Commissioner Michael Feldstein also reports that "no parties will be allowed at the house, the number of residents in the house will be limited to eight or less, and that visitors to the house will be strictly controlled."

A rep from the mayor's office is skedded to come to the 7 p.m. meeting, presumably to explain how people will be "strictly controlled" in a private home.

An e-mail's out to Feldstein to find out what else he knows, but isn't it great that the local ANC is on it?

I've already had to deal with reengineering my social life around 7 douchebags who fail to represent anything more than the sad part of America that can't figure out how to have a life that isn't documented for other peole who can't figure out how to have a life. Was it frustrating? Absolutely. Annoying? Oh yeah. Did it improve or destroy my life and/or city? Nawwww. The last time I lived in a city with a RW house (I can't believe I have a "last time," it's so sad), the house was on the otherside of the city from me and the most imposition I had was having to go to a different Starbucks a few time..."

The New Teacher On The Block does not welcome the idea of Fenty spending tons of money on an elementary school's soccer field. They have strong words:

"Well, it wouldn't be....except he gave the school $850,000 to BUILD A SOCCER FIELD. Now, I'm no expert on these things, but I am OUTRAGED at this pricetag. I cannot imagine why an elementary school needs that much money to build a soccer field that, according to a source at Murch, will feature TURF as opposed to grass. Is it just me, or is this another example of the wasteful and ridiculous spending that goes on in DCPS? I mean, take out the asphalt, put in some grass, paint some lines, and buy a couple of goals.

This money is enough to pay about 10 DCPS teachers a year, by my estimation."

Congress Heights on the Rise continues its fight against malt liquor. This time they analyze the situation in Barry Farm.

Kudos to Borderstan who appears to have scooped every blogger on the central issue of our time. Borderstan has found the location of the Real World D.C. house—2000 S Street NW. We can only add to their scoop with our own reporting!

According to D.C. government documents, the property is valued at $5.69 million (that's the proposed 2010 assessment). The house was purchased on January 1, 2001 by DLB 20th LP. It appears that MTV or some Real World company is renting the house.

Four building permits have been issued since May, records show. One permit was for interior demolition. Another was for interior construction. The other two were for electrical and plumbing work. No word yet on whether a permit has been issued for hot tub installation.

No doubt this address will be home to some serious vapidness, bland hook-ups, and teary spats set to the gentle sounds of Chickenfoot. So who will benefit from all this crap? Bloggers like us.

Borderstan has the first-person narrative of its discovery:

"We heard sounds of workmen inside and, just by chance, saw a couple of guys outside (not workmen). One had a camera and the other one was taking notes. Without identifying their affiliation, I will say that they confirmed that 2000 S Street NW will be the house for The Real World. Moreover, at least one of the cast members will be a gay man and apparently one of the local venues for the drama-to-come will be Halo Lounge at 1435 P Street NW—across from Whole Foods..."
