Hey State of Illinois: Can’t You Get Your Own Lincoln Outfit?

State of Illinois, have some pride. You're the land of Lincoln. You boast of that heritage, on all kinds of official items and tourist appeals.

So you'd think that for the biggest inaugural parade in history, you could come up with your own, authentic, distinctive Lincoln costume for your state society treasurer or some other individual to strap on and wave to the crowds.

But no--you borrowed the Washington Nationals' Lincoln outfit, the one that this terrible franchise uses during its cheesy "President's races," a form of fan entertainment. Meaning that your Illinois Lincoln outfit has a curly "W" on it. Talk about tarnishing a legacy.

Entitlement and Ticketholders

DCist's Sommer Mathis prudently spanks a haughty attitude among parade ticketholders, as evidenced by this comment from onesuch. This particular individual thought she should be exempt from the requirement to get on the parade route early, before the feds close it down due to overcapacity. Just because you bought a $25 ticket doesn't mean you're above the dictates of the Federal Security Apparatus (FSA). Nor does a parade ticket exempt you from any of the bag-size requirements of the parade route.
