<p>Lately, a few bloggers have started to worry over/debate/curate the slow fading of the District's old signs. As storefronts change hands, as <a href=" http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/display.php?id=36346">strip malls get demolished</a>, residents start scratching their inner <a href=" http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/display.php?id=36005">Pelecanos</a> and mourning the old-timey signs and neon that once made their block a little more interesting.</p>
<p><strong>The Triangle</strong> has <a href=" http://mvtriangle.blogspot.com/2008/12/av-in-lights.html">a really beautiful shot via Flickr</a> of <a href=" http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/citydesk/2008/10/10/av-ristorante-lives-again-in-mixtecs-new-take-out-seriously/">A.V. Ristorante</a>'s neon. And <strong>Prince of Petworth</strong> has been at it for some time. He's done <a href=" http://www.princeofpetworth.com/2008/12/capturing-sweet-old-school-signs-before-they-disappear-forever/">a really good job of finding some gems</a>.</p>
<p>Maybe we started it all with this <a href=" http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/display.php?id=33719">cover story on fading signs</a>. But damn if the photos weren't transferred to the web version!</p>
<p>We should start preserving these old signs! The A.V. neon should be in museum.</p>
