As the Chandra Levy trial rolls on, the proceedings will eventually dwell on a creepy theory: Authorities believe murder suspect Ingmar Guandique has a portrait of his victim tattooed on his chest. H Street tattoo artist Paul Roe may be setting them straight.
In 2008, D.C. cops checked out Guandique in a California prison, [...]

Thieves Loot Argonaut, Smash Gum Ball Machine

The Argonaut can't catch a break. At the end of last month, the popular H Street NE bar was extensively charred by a kitchen fire. And over the holiday weekend, the place was looted. According to the tavern's Web site, the thief dislodged a window air conditioning unit to get in, then did the following:

Another Blaze Scorches Joe Englert’s Boozy Empire

Popular H Street NE hangout The Argonaut is closed following an apparent kitchen fire on Sunday morning. Photos of the extensive damage have been posted on the place's own web site, which also dishes up some details on the Argo's post-blaze hangover:

Our Morning Roundup: Free Ride Edition

Taking the trolley around town could cost you as little as nothing. Maybe.
"It is certainly possible that in certain areas of the city it would be free," District Department of Transportation Director Gabe Klein tells WTOP.
City officials yesterday unveiled a 66-foot-long, 168-seat Czech-designed prototype of the streetcars planned to one day shuttle Washingtonians to and fro. (Our own [...]

Turns out, D.C. Council agrees. Officially giving the green light to medical marijuana in District yesterday, the Council also added new language potentially doubling the [...]

Our Morning Roundup: 4/20 Hangover Edition

Whoa, dude, are you high? Or did D.C. City Council really vote in favor of legalizing medical marijuana yesterday? I wonder: Does the new law cover writer's block?
Adam Eidinger, for one, thinks it's all a bad trip. The former Green Party candidate for Shadow Senator Representative and co-founder of Capitol Hemp says city lawmakers really need [...]

Our Morning Roundup: Anne Frank Diary Saved From Culpeper Censors

Culpeper County school administrators welcome back Anne Frank!
Some school hack had decided to ban Frank's diary from the county's school curriculum. This was a bad idea as well as an unpopular one. WaPo writes:
"Director of instruction James Allen last week told The Washington Post that the definitive edition of the diary would not be used [...]

Our Morning Roundup: Gray Needs To Make Up His Mind!

The Washington Post endorses Gray...vs. Fenty. In an editorial, they write that Chairman Vincent Gray should stop dithering and enter the mayoral race. Fenty deserves a challenger. And Fenty's detractors need to show some guts and run someone for mayor: "It's clear from the money he has raised and the campaign apparatus that he's assembled [...]
