Watch: Marion Barry Reality Show Trailers

Last November came news that Ward 8 Councilmember Marion Barry would be the subject of a reality show pilot filmed by local documentary vet Kirk Fraser. Now Fraser's offered a first look, via a pair of YouTubed trailers.
LL spied Fraser & Co. covering Barry on March 2, the day he was censured by his D.C. [...]

The Friday Limerick Review

I'm sure that it stings and it hurts
But those are the man's just deserts
Now censured and stripped
Political crypt
Or time for the guy to chase skirts?
And as for dessert with two S's
Free cupcakes for those who said yeses
Congressional stalling
(While mostly appalling)
Has rarely produced such successes!
Smithsonian folks, so astute
Said thanks-but-no-thanks on the suit
The press release brevity
Made for [...]

Bennett Report/Barry Censure: Winners and Losers

A day later, LL's ready to assess the fallout from Marion Barry's unprecedented smackdown:

Donna Watts Remains A Mystery

Donna Watts-Brighthaupt, beloved folk hero and future bold name and/or photo in Barry obit montage, is impossible to figure out. Yesterday, she attended Barry's State of the Ward speech. Before the speech, she posted this cryptic comment on Facebook:
"You'll soon know why MB the politician continues to keep me close. I'll work with him and [...]

I'm sure LL Daily will have more on this. If Councilmember Marion Barry wants to know how his lame apology is being received, he's got at least one answer. WaPo's editorial board is calling for Barry to step down. The board writes:
"It frankly is disgusting to hear Mr. Barry talk, as he did Tuesday, about [...]

Marion Barry: ‘I Should Have Known Better’

When Robert S. Bennett last Tuesday unfurled his findings on the transgressions of Ward 8 Councilmember Marion S. Barry, he ran into a stone wall. Accused of unethically steering a contract to his girlfriend, among other serious allegations, Barry contended that he couldn't have broken rules that didn't exist. "I'm a different kind of councilmember," [...]

The Friday Limerick Review

Hello again, season of Lent
M. Barry has lots to repent
Like others, he's risen
From death (or from prison)
No matter how sketchy and bent
Kerplunk, went the latest report
Jaw-dropping was Barry's retort
Said Bennett transgressed
And once or twice stressed
Ward 8 as a lame last resort
You know what is totally splendid?
Those days without letters have ended
But junk mail you've gotten
Goes [...]
