The Needle: Richmond Goes Hollywood

Just Another Earthquake-Sex Joke: The Washington Post's live blog of the ongoing proceedings of the federal corruption case against former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and his wife could be the best thing on the Internet this week. A highlight: In trying to show that the relationship between Maureen McDonnell and Jonnie Williams Sr., the CEO of Star Scientific, was more than pure business, the defense showed an email that the first lady wrote to Williams after the 2011 earthquake: "I just felt the earth move and I wasn't even having sex!!!!" Also, there's this stellar photo of the former governor wearing shades and smiling as he drives Williams' Ferrari with the top down. +7

Duh: Government records indicate that federal workers across many different agencies surf porn websites when they are feeling bored on the job. That's probably not the best thing to do on government time, but, with access to a government computer, there are a lot more destructive things these workers could be doing. +/- 0

License to Ban: The California DMV rejected an application from a man attempting to get a license plate with an abbreviation of the Washington football team's name on it. Why? Because it's a racial slur. +3

RIP: Hogo, the Mount Vernon Square bar that serves cocktails in pineapples, will shutter after this Saturday to make way for a new office building. -2
