The Needle: Society Is Toast

Bread Heads: The owners of Baked & Wired are opening up a bread shop and cafe in Mount Vernon Triangle and, wait for it, there will be a toast bar. -6

Stairway of Hell: The elevator at the newly reopened Washington Monument broke today, leaving 18 visitors to walk down the 897 steps. -1

Not on My Streets: A group of "revolutionary-style patriots with a million mobilized militia members" will be in D.C. Friday to try and oust sitting politicians, including President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner. Sounds like a whole lot of traffic in the making. -3

We're No Brooklyn: District Flea will be closing immediately because D.C. just couldn't purchase enough high-end, hand-crafted goods. The nation's capital, according to one of the flea market's organizers, just doesn't have the "endless amount of interest in local production and small business that exists in Brooklyn." +3
