The night is dark and full of terrors—-but at least one group of Washingtonians has found an inventive way to brighten the bleakness of life between seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones. If you’re a fan of the ridiculously bloody, ludicrously elaborate fantasy series (or the George R. R. Martin books upon which it’s based) and like to drink, turn your attention to this Craigslist ad, where a group called GOT DC looking for fans to help it “map DC to Westeros and Essos” (for you muggles, those are the two continents on Game of Thrones) and “designate a leadership plan for each kingdom.”

What does mapping D.C. to the show’s kingdoms actually entail? One of the organizers of GOT DC, who identified himself only as Reed (a reference, perhaps, to Game of Thrones greenseer Jojen Reed? Or possibly just a dude named Reed) writes in an email that they are looking to match the “geographic and personality qualities of D.C. neighborhoods to the cities/kingdoms in Westeros and Essos.”

“This will be a serious undertaking requiring research into DC neighborhoods,” the email continues. “For example, Should the White House represent King’s Landing? Should Takoma Park be ‘The Wall?’ I, for one, think Columbia Heights is the perfect Winterfell.”

Have a better idea? (Perhaps you think the White House is really Casterly Rock.)  Then buckle up: GOT DC says it plans to hold a multiround interview process to fill four spots:

In your e-mail application, please include an answer to the following questions:
1) What GOT character most closely resembles you and why?
2) What is your favorite beer and why?
3) What special skills/talent can you bring to GOT DC?

Interviews will be at Dr. Clocks Nowhere Bar in Adams Morgan at a time TBD mid-February. We will only accept top applicants in the first round until we are ready to open GOT DC to everyone.

There are 4 open positions. During the interview be prepared to explain which position you want and why. You get to make up your roles and responsibilities.

1) King/Queen
2) Lord Commander of the Kingsguard
3) Maester
4) Royal Executioner

Luckily, Washington City Paper has already mapped Game of Thrones to the serpentine, backstabbing world of D.C. politics. Consider this our application.
