MPD Expands Its Klout With Instagram
The already social media-savvy Metropolitan Police Department announced yesterday that it's been using Instagram to communicate with D.C. residents in the hopes of solving open investigations.
The department has had the account, DCPOLICDEPT, for about eight weeks, and has posted 23 photos. It currently has 114 followers. Its posts largely consist of pictures and descriptions of missing persons and suspects at large.
"Our relationship with the community is paramount to our success and we continue to look for different ways to improve that communication," Police Chief Cathy Lanier said in the press release announcing the Instagram account.
