Congrats on Winning the Lottery! Too Bad You Can’t Cash in Until After the Shutdown

Not even the luckiest among us will be spared the wrath of the government shutdown.

The D.C. Lottery and Charitable Games Control Board announced Friday that, effective Saturday, no winning D.C. lottery tickets can be cashed in until after the government shutdown ends, because the District's funds aren't available until Congress appropriates them to us. (The lottery says 17,795 people win every day, so potentially, that's a lot of money.)

As if to test your faith in government, the DCLB says lottery tickets can still be purchased during the shutdown.

If you do win the lottery, the DCLB recommends that you sign the back of the ticket and store it in a safe place until order is restored to Capitol Hill.

considering that it's typically low-income folks (who voted for o'bama) who buy these tickets, maybe he might get them riled enough to actually THINK how o'bama is BAD FOR EVERYBODY!

Stevor, you are a racist pig, not everyone hates Obama.Plus it is the Republicans that are terrorist, Have you ever considered suing your brain for non-support?

  • Typical DC BS

@SuperD: The only one being racist is YOU. Thanks for confirming the bama part of stevor's comment.
