The Needle: Gort Reno Edition

Danger Zone: As you might recall, both automobile boosters and smart-growth activists aren't exactly stoked by the ongoing zoning rewrite's limited changes to the city's parking requirements. Luckily, this years-long debate is getting closer to ending: Today, the Office of Planning was expected to deliver its final proposed rewrite of the code to the Zoning Commission, which has final say on the revision. +1

Citizen Kokesh: Libertarian activist Adam Kokesh was denied bail today by a District judge weeks after he filmed a video in which he held a loaded firearm in Freedom Plaza. He's due in back in court on August 13, and presumably will be out in time to make good on his promise to run for president. +2

Allbritton's Billi: Politico owner and TBD deleter Allbritton Communications sold WJLA, NewChannel 8, and five other stations to the Sinclair Broadcast Group for $985 million. Think how many Mike Allens they can clone with that money! +/-0
