New Strip Club Too Sexy for D.C.
Glover Park, previously best known for its Whole Foods and baseball field, is about to get a whole lot steamier thanks to the newly renovated JP's strip club, the Washington Post reports. The neighborhood already has one nude club, but JP's is different: It's more intimate.
In the new JP's, the kitchen has been torn out and replaced with tables and alcoves for more intimate dances. While neighbors are opposing the club for the usual reasons related to naked women and booze, JP's competitors are worried too, claiming that the private dance alcoves will turn Washington into Gomorrah on the Potomac.
One anonymous strip club owner talked the Post:
Once they learn another place offers sanctioned VIP cubicles, it will open “Pandora’s box,” he predicted.
“This is a slippery slope, because in our business you move to the lowest common denominator,” he said. “If they are allowed to do that, everyone has to arm themselves accordingly.”
The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board is allowing the club to reopen with its new, more intimate design, with plans for a hearing later.
