D.C. Police, Metro Step Up Security After Boston Explosions
Security is up across today the D.C. area today following the explosions at the Boston Marathon.
The Metropolitan Police Department is operating under "heightened security," according to spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump, who declined to say any more about the issue.
Day-shift Metro Transit Police officers will stay on duty at least through the evening rush hour, according to spokesman Dan Stessel. He says the officers will stay on duty until more information is known about the Boston explosions.
There are no currently no known threats against Metro, according to a press release from the transit agency.
