Metro Introduces Automated SmarTrip Reloading

Metro: every so often, getting things right. The Examiner reports that Metro is rolling out a new auto-reloading feature for SmarTrip cards.

Passengers can designate a credit or debit that is automatically charged when the SmarTrip drops below a minimum.

The only problem here is that minimum, which Metro has set at $20. That's a decent amount to have tied up in a SmarTrip. Plus, since the Metro machines' default SmarTrip increase is already set at $20, it seems more like a maximum than a minimum.

Still, this is good news, especially since Richard Sarles is even less willing to put Metro trips on the tab.
