LivingSocial To Sponsor Late-Night Nationals Metro

Update, 5:01 p.m.: LivingSocial has been announced as the mystery third party who would sponsor late-night service for Nationals fans, according to WTOP's Adam Tuss.

The impasse over who will pay for late-night Metro services for Nationals fan may finally be resolved. Metro has just announced that it's going to make an announcement about the service at 5 p.m. today at the Navy Yard, which presumably means the issue has been settled.

Who will end up paying for that service is still a mystery. Will it be the Nationals? The city? Everyone?

One bit of information: The Post's Mike DeBonis tweets that sources say the city won't be on the hook. Check back here after 5 p.m. for more.

Update, 4:05 p.m.: DeBonis reports that the service will be covered by an unnamed third party.

  • Officer Friendly?

Will- was there any mention of the scandal of how 100+ MPD officers easily per game are being redeployed as CDU units for each playoff game instead of patrolling their districts? The Nats are getting free police service while the people of DC get reduced police service for at least a week. The Department is calling it an on-duty deployment, but officers from every shift are detailed to the games, shafting citizens all around.
