Going by the buzz surrounding Ward 5 strip club/chophouse Stadium Club, you might think it’s only popular with rappers and the mayor’s son. But the Washington Post reports that the club is enjoying surprising success with straight women who see it not as a strip club, but a club with strippers.

Co-owner James Tru Redding tells the Post that more than half of his club’s clients are women. Apparently, they’re drawn to the upscale interior, wealthy patrons, and general good time atmosphere.

Speaking of the Stadium Club, the article brings confusing news about Strip Club Queens, the nascent reality show set at the club.

Redding tells the Post that the show still hasn’t been bought by a channel. That would seem to contradict Strip Club Queens creator Delmond Newton, who was saying in July that the show had been picked up by a mysterious TV network that’s popular with women. He wouldn’t say any more than that, though.

I contacted some cable channels at the time, and two potential suitors, VH1 and BET, said they weren’t involved. Bravo, another likely suspect, didn’t respond. Here’s hoping some cable channel takes a chance on the show—-Washington needs a reality star, and top stripper Miami (she of “Meet Me at the Exxon” micro-fame) might as well be it.

Update, 4:12 p.m.: Newton says the show has definitely been picked up by a network, and he could announce it next week.
