Whoa. Lots of latent homosexulaity there.

  2. #2

Gravelly Point is not a great place for guns. Just sayin'.

i'm not nearly as horrified by these pics as i expected to be when i first heard word of this project, but it is still a bit unnerving.

i'd just like to take a moment to express relief to those who participated for NOT attempting to parade through my DC neighborhood with their weapons.

    Awesome work, Darrow!!

As they say at the end of 'Looney Tunes',
    "Thats All Folks!"

Yeah, it's hard to be scared of these guys. They look like the crowd at an exurban Home Depot on a Tuesday morning. What the gun-toters have to understand, though, is that they're going to have to cope with living in an America that's no longer dominated by middle-aged suburban white guys.

    was gilbert arenas there??

Wow, a bunch of guns and no one spontaneously got killed. Shocking. What a bunch of misplaced, irrational fear of pieces of metal and plastic - and not even the most deadly hunks of metal and plastic:
    Motor vehicle traffic deaths: 43,664
    firearm deaths: 30,896
    from '06 CDC report.
Clearly these guys are a little off their rocker, but so what? Realistically they were more likely to kill someone driving to this event than walking around with firearms. The solution is obvious. Ban cars. Do it for the children. If it saves just one life...

I don't see what the point of their demonstration was, but my question to the detractors are, what do you think would have happened if the colonists didn't have a right to bear arms back in 1776? We would all probably be sipping tea at noon, eating crumpets with marmelade, and a bowl of curds and way.

  10. #10

and have a Queen...as well as the District of Columbia would probably still be part of Maryland. No nation, means no capital (or Capitol for that matter).

  11. #11

Nice photos. I especially like the grammatically incorrect sign.

  12. #12

Mike, whether the colonists had a "right" to bear arms was irrelevant, because the absence of a right recognized by the crown was not going to stop people who were already set on insurrection. But putting that aside, this is not 1776, it's 2010, and pistols and rifles wielded by average citizens are not going to defeat the U.S. military. The justification that we need guns to resist a tyrannical government is no longer rational.

    GUNS DONT KILL PEOPLE.
    PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE.

TYPICAL WHITEY! GRANDSTANDING ON FAKE ASS PRINCIPALS. GARNERING ATTENTION BECAUSE THEY CANT GET IT ANY OTHER WAY. THESE COUSIN FUCKERS ARE JEALOUS AND INADEQUATE ON SO MANY LEVELS. THUS THE GUN DISPLAY!

A BUNCH OF THEM WAS AT GRAVELLY POINT. SO WHAT! IT'S IN VA! IF THEY WAS SO BAD AND ANGRY HOW COME NONE OF THEM CROSSED THE BRIDGE.

THEY ARE GOING TO LOSE THEIR DAMN MIND WHEN MY PRESIDENT GETS REELECTED!

The essence of democracy is saying that we are no longer going to resolve things through violence.

Decisions are going to be made at the ballot box. And if we lose, we don't go home and take arms--we fall in line 'til the next election. Complain all we want, but we fall in line.

The essence of the gun display is like the border between the Koreas--let's walk up to the edge of your home with our guns out to try to intimidate you. That's not how rational people behave.

To the folks at the protest... what do you intend to do if your attempts at intimidation DO NOT sway the public discourse? Are you going to go on with life? Or are you going to start murdering my neighbors?

I hope folks can understand why I would ask. There's a difference between a tea party poster and chant protest, and an armed organization marching through the streets.

AT least they don't shoot each other over missing cheap-ass bracelets and "respect".

  16. #16

@Typical DC BS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!

THEY KILL INOOCENT FOLK BY SHOOTING UP MUSEUMS AND COWORKERS!

  17. #17

noodlez...you are a total waste of perfectly good oxygen that we human beings need, more than maggots like yourself. You are a bigot, racist bastard, and your man isn't going to be reelected. You don't deserve the liberties we have in this country. All you are is a typical uneducated parasite, feeding off the living, (and working). I really don't know why I'm even taking the time to respond to a completely disgusting piece of dog excrement such as yourself. Stupid scum deserve to be ignored! So.....Toodles, noodlez!

Most of these men and women would shit their shorts if someone was shotting at them, FREAKS!

  19. #19

Well said Dirty Harry, I can see by reading these comments that some of you are totally uneducated and live in some kind of fantasy land. Here are some facts for you less informed/uneducated people. Prior to the 2008 presidential election there were 65 million LICENSED gun owners in AMERICA, thats less than 1/3 of the population in the UNITED STATES. After the election to present day there are now 220 million LICENSED gun owners in AMERICA, That is over 2/3 of the population. So judging by your comments, there are 220 million FREAKS in this country. This demonstration wasn't about shooting or in any way promoting violence. It was about CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS and PERSONAL LIBERTY, both of which are being stripped from all Americans everyday by our federal government. If you werent living in your fantasy land you would see what is really going on in this country. Obviously 220 million people can see it. Also we have the right to assemble in any way we choose, per the (1st Amendment of the CONSTITUTION)to let our government know when we are tired of their B.S. Restoring the contitution is what this rally was about. If some of you would wake up you would see that the Constitution is being spit on everyday by your democratically elected leaders. If you don't care then stay uninformed and uneducated but don't crap on the people that do care.

@Dirty Harry WHO YOU CALLING UNEDUCATED!?

YOU TOOK THE TIME TO RESPOND BECAUSE THE TRUTH HURTS AND YOU NEEDED TO SOMEHOW GET BACK AT ME BECAUSE YOU WERE SEETHING.

THAT IS A NATURAL REACTION. LET IT OUT. ITS OKAY.

WHAT ISNT NATURAL IS WHEN YOU PLAY WITH YOUR DOGS JUNK. THAT IS JUST PLAIN OL' NASTY!

OBAMA WILL BE REELECTED BY A GREATER MARGIN THAN THE LAST TIME BY THE TIME HE IS THROUGH FIXING AND CLEANING UP THE SHIT YA BOY LEFT THIS COUNTRY IN!

These white nationalist stormtroopers at Gravelly Point are making a statement. When they sling assault rifles around their shoulders at protest rallies, they are telling this nation that we will KILL you if you get in their way.

This means blacks. This means Hispanics. This means anyone who doesn't share the white skin color. This means killing liberals and Democratic Party politicians. They will murder anyone who doesn't share their distorted point of view of the world.

Before the Al Qaeda attacks on 9/11/01, the most heinous terrorist act on American soil was launched by right-wing, white nationalist kooks like Timothy McVeigh. You have far-right white militias plotting the murder of law enforcement officers in Michigan so they could start a race war in the United States.

These people have no respect for democratic values. They think that Obama cheated and stole his away into the presidency. I hate to break the news to the Tea Party fanatics but many white people voted for him as well. He won the election fairly and openly. Elections are a wonderful thing unless you are unhappy with the outcome.

I am a middle class white male but the Tea Party clowns do not speak for me. And they do not represent a "real" America because White, Conservative, Evangelical Christian America is not the only America. We are a diverse nation with different races, different faiths, different socio-economic backgrounds, and different ideas. If the radical right-wing whites cannot handle this America, then they should fucking settle in Montana and declare independence from this country.

Oh hear we go turning this into a RACE issue, Could have guessed that! Race is what the ingnorant and uneducated start crying when they are too freaking lost and confused to understand the reality that is right in front of their face. Coldbliss, you are way off in your thinking. These people will be the ones defending YOU and the rights of all AMERICANS when our government pushes us too far. This isnt a war, this is excersising our freedoms, The 2nd amendment to be precise. Keep in mind that without the 2nd Amendment, the rest of the constitution means nothing. Heres something for the ignorant. Our country was built on the basis of our CONSTITUTION. The CONSTITUTION gives you your freedom, liberty and rights, without which you are just a slave to the government. This enslavement is happening right now, everyday by our government by pissing on the CONSTITUTION and your rights contained there in. For those that don't know anything about what the CONSTITUTION is or what it contains, I highly recomend looking into it and knowing it because your own future as an AMERICAN is at stake. This has nothing to do with race, religion, republicans, democrats, etc. THIS IS ABOUT YOUR FREEDOM. Pointing the finger is useless at this point because there are so many lies being told about the cause of our countrys'problems. Keep your eye on the AGENDA, watch as this stuff unfolds and you will see that your rights and freedoms are disappearing daily. If you are ok with that, then thats your right to be but don't belittle the the people that do care, that is their right too.
