Gun Found at National Cathedral Shoots BBs, Not Bullets
The Washington Post Crime Scene blog reports that there was some panic at the Washington National Cathedral earlier today.
D.C. police say two people are being questioned after a man reportedly had a weapon on the grounds of the National Cathedral where three elite schools are located.
Police spokesman Lt. Nicholas Breul says a 911 call at about 8:10 a.m. Wednesday reported a man with a weapon on the cathedral's campus.
Breul says the St. Albans School and National Cathedral School were locked down for about 40 minutes.
According to Bruel, police are interviewing two people. He says officers found a “long gun” but have not confirmed if it's an actual weapon.
As it turns out, it wasn't. Assistant Police Chief Diane Groomes emails that the weapon was a BB gun, and that the gun incident didn't involve any malice.
