Vincent Gray’s First 100 Days: To Be Determined

On WAMU-FM's Politics Hour this afternoon, LL asked D.C. Council Chairman Vincent C. Gray what would happen in the first 100 days of a Gray mayoralty. His response:

"I think that is very premature...We need to get through an election, we need to get through a transition, we need to get through the appointments process, and then we will establish what we will do."

Asked for three policy goals, Gray said: "I'm a planner!...I will look at the first 100 days and the entire four years as a part of my planning experience and my planning background. And, you know what, we'll do that in concert with people. This campaign will elucidate the concerns of people. This campaign will raise issues that I think will substantially inform additionally what a Gray administration will do."

Thanks to WAMU and Kojo Nnamdi for having LL on and shooting the video.

About as inspirational as his announcement event...

    Shorter Gray:
I am a native washingtonian will tell you my platform when I'm done focus testing it.

  3. #3

The question: you're running for Mayor, so what are you going to do if you're elected?

    The answer: That's premature.

What a second-rate line of bullshit that is.

We ARE the mushroom caucus. Our politicians keep us in the dark and feed us bullshit by the shovel.

Oh cool, a campaign that's not about anything. This reminds me of when Harold Ford was mulling a Senate campaign in NY and gave an interview to the NY Daily News on the condition that they not ask him about the issues. So when the reporter instead asks him about the pedicures he gets, what does he reply? "This race isn't about feet, it's about issues."

    1) I'm a homey; 2) I'm not Fenty, and 3) I'm "one city" (wink, wink).

    What a F'ing joke.

    Are you kidding me?

    You are telling me:

"I can do better. I just don't know how? I will figure that out after you elect me."

    "I'm a planner."

That is the damn question. What are you planning to do?

That sh*t wouldn't fly in an election for 7 grade class president.

    Tell the truth Gray.

You have no idea what you would do. Barry hasn't told you yet.

A very weak performance by Gray. He couldn't come up with a single legislative goal if elected mayor? Wow. If I were the Fenty folks, I'd be sending that clip around to show Vince's "leadership" abilities. It's exactly those sorts of dithering qualities that allowed Barry to get away with his earmarks shenanigans.

WHAT YALL EMAIL EACH OTHER TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE PRO-FENTY COMMENTS TO SHOW HE HAS SOME SUPPORT LEFT? MAYBE ITS ONE POSTER SUBMITTING SEVERAL COMMENTS? YOU GUYS ARE SO PATHETIC.

YALL DONT REALIZE THAT GRAY IS OLD SCHOOL. THOSE OLD CATS ARE PATIENT AND CALCULATED. HE IS NOT GOING TO SHOW HIS HAND UNTIL HE NEEDS TO.

HERE IS SOMETHING YOU LADIES CAN PONDER WHILE TRYIN TO FIGURE OUT WHERE FENTY WENT WRONG-TWO BULLS WAS UP ON THE HILLSIDE LOOKING DOWN ON THE HERD. THE YOUNG BULL SAID TO THE OLD BULL LETS RUN DOWN THERE AND FUCK ONE OF THOSE COWS REAL QUICK. THE OLD BULL SAID PUMP YOUR BRAKES LIL HOMEY LETS WALK DOWN THERE AND FUCK 'EM ALL!

@Sally "dithering" "shenanigans" YOU MUST BE WHITE AND LIVING IN WARD 3. SWEETHEART WHAT YOU ARE THINKING JUST DOESNT MATTER ANY LONGER. JUST ENJOY THE NEXT 8 MONTHS LIL FENTY WILL BE SITTING IN THE CHAIR.

CONTRARY TO ALL THE BS ABOUT REGENTRIFICATION BLACK, WORKING CLASS FOLK STILL HOLD A MAJORITY IN THIS CITY AND FENTY HAS ALIENATED THEM. SO HE WILL NOT BE BACK NEXT YEAR.

Mr. Gray wants be a MARION BARRY OF THE MAYORS OFFICE. His record as a Council member for the greater NE area was deplorable. Citizens of that area attempted to meet with him at his office concerning neighborhood issues were dismay with him evading their request to meet with him together and individually. He always seem to be out of the office. Talk is cheap, but to walk-the-walk takes a real person. I don't believe Mr. Gray is the right person to run for Mayor at present. Every canddidate want to mimic the PRESIDENT when speaking about city issues. The Mayors office is just a gang of greedy THUGS seeking FAME AND FORTUNE, NOT WORK TO RESOLE ISSUES FOR EACH AND EVERY CITIZEN IN DC. NO CANDIDATE WILL DISCUSS HOW they would ENRICH THE LIVE OF THE POOR, EDERLY, DISABLE, CHILDREN WAREFARE AND EDUCATION, CRIME, HOUSING AND CREATING PROGRAMS TO PUT MORE MONEY AND FOOD IN THE HOUSEHOLDS THAT REQUIRE IT TO SURVIVE During their speach to the public. Its all about the word, "I".
How is the word "I" connecting with ordinary people?

There will be plenty of opportunities and hot debates all summer long to determine what a Gray platform will look and feel like. He was right to say that his first 100 days was premature to speculate. It was a smart answer at this point. What he needs to do is get out there and go straight grass roots, door to door. He will find that it is a welcomed knock as opposed to the slammed doors Fenty will receive.

Wow!!!! All you Fenty posters can go online from NY, NJ, Cali, Md, Va, Fl and wherever else you live to post negative articles for him but guess what you can't do for him???????????

    VOTE!

    Hahahahahaha
You better party it up this summer because it will be your LAST!

  12. #12

    Gray has my vote.

  13. #13

And Fenty has mine. And its not like Gray's support isn't coming largely from people that can't vote here. Look who was standing behind him when he filed his papers: DC government employees and their unions. Last time I checked, Ward Nine doesn't really get a vote here, no matter how much they act like they do.

  14. #14

Gray's been planning this mayoral run for 3 years. With five months to go before the primary, he can't articulate a concrete platform or clearcut goals. We can do better!

"Last time I checked, Ward Nine doesn't really get a vote here..."

Gosh, I wonder how ex-Fenty chauffeur and MD rez Keith Lomax got to vote in DC's 2008 primary. Not to mention winning $11 mil in contracts for being a "DC" LSDBE.

    What a joke.
