In What Universe is Haydee’s a ‘Supper Club’?

Now that Washington City Paper's resident media critic has departed, someone here's gotta cap on the InTowner. Hope this fills the void.
Witness the featured story from the InTowner's March issue, penned by Anthony L. Harvey. It's a nice piece of neighborhood journalism, albeit written in the 'Towner's impossibly verbose house style, about how Mount Pleasant residents are protesting the liquor license for stalwart Salvadoran/Tex-Mex eatery Haydee's.
The article's headline refers to Haydee's as a "Highly Regarded Mt. Pleasant Supper Club Restaurant." Webster's New World dictionary defines a supper club as "an intimate, expensive nightclub."
Now Haydee's might have live music on occasion, but the home of the $10.95 Fiesta Platter, beloved and highly regarded as it may be, is no supper club.

The InTowner is seriously the worst newspaper I have ever encountered. How on Earth is that thing still around? Who pays for what must be its massive quarterly losses?
4:50 pm
Haydee's is a supper club in the same universe that Tony Harvey is an actual journalist.

mike: i want to see you do a little investigation into how the intowner can possibly justify the "readership now 100,000" that they print at the top of each issue. no way in hell they are #2 to the wapo for readership in DC.

Well, they throw it into my yard but I don't read it. And they throw it into my neighbors yards, but both townhouses are empty. Perhaps they could get them to stop littering the neighborhood with their rag if they had to pay 5 cents for each plastic bag they come wrapped in.

I'm just thankful the InTowner doesn't hyphenate "today."
12:29 pm
Yeah DBone, I think a story explaining the mysteries of the InTowner is in order. Or at least a quick and dirty blog post. Enquiring minds want to know how this nuisance of a rag stays afloat!

The Intowner occasionally does some nice in-depth pieces. But often it seems there is no firewall between editorial (PW) and news (TH).
One wonders.
1:19 pm
No firewall? Its all the same person. The Intowner isn't the only sheet to massage their circulation. Can anyone even tell me where to find a copy of DCAgenda? No one seems to be able to.

Its long been true that there is nothing Peter Wolfe won't do, say, or write for free meals. In the Intowner world Trio is haute cuisine, the stale muffins at Java House are spa cuisine, and Dupont Italian Kitchen is nueva cucina. Journalists have hungers too!
