@ Drez

To let you tell it, it's Marion Barry's fault!

This Charter/Privatization FOR PROFIT petri dish/Lab experimentation has further proved FOR PROFIT and FOR THE OFFERING UP OF DC's children as SACRIFICIAL LAMBS!!

If the FEDS had any true concern for the District, THIS CHARADE would have never flown in the 1st place and THE PROPER INVESTMENT would have been made in our youth as opposed to "punishing" district residents for "exercising" their right to re-elect Barry years ago!

He has been railroaded while future citizens were cheated and pawned as COLLATERAL DAMAGE!

Education is always a priority in any civilization, the more educated, the more self sufficient and INDEPENDENT the citizenry becomes! DC missed that WORLD CIVILIZATIONS Class 101, right along with a few others!

No Child Left Behind never applied to or benefited DC youth!

Downtown Rez is on the right track. Follow the money!
Many of these charter schools are cash cows for the organizers who acquire property and get large Federal, DC, and private grants to line their pockets. The DC government lends them the money by issuing revenue bonds. They get $15K per kid from DCPS for operating expenses.
Anybody who doesn't think this is a very lucrative business hasn't figured it out yet. They probably majored in education, not business or finance.

The "ENTIRE" DOES Office of Youth Programs (RDY Program) Young Adult Internship Program (YAIP), is a lesson in plagiarism. The original document was copywritten, that didn't seem to bother anyone. They dropped the original document, which came straight from the Internet, into a scanner; gave it optical character recognition capabilities, changed the header and footer to read DOES/OYP, and the author to be the Director of the Office and her staff and then the "fired" the young lady who made all of the changes, so that she could not ever bear witness to what had been done.

Tom, thank you! This entire administration has not had an original idea since its inception. I would hedge a bet that 90% of their analytical reports, projects, and design themes are plagiarized.
