The Saga of Philly P’s Goes On: It’s Open Today!
Yesterday in this space, City Desk reported that Georgetown's Philly Pizza & Grill was closed for good. That's what an employee said, after all, when we called to check.
But it's not!
Philly P's is still relentlessly serving up slices, despite an order to close by the D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA), reports the Georgetown Dish. That order was issued Friday.
An employee said today the eatery will continue to serve slices until 12:30 a.m. After that?
The phone was passed to owner Mehmet Kocak, who says he's not sure when he'll shutter. He says he's simply heeding the advice of his lawyer, Pat Brown, of Greenstein Delorme & Luchs, P.C.
Brown was not immediately available for comment.
DCRA is seeking a court order from D.C. Superior Court to force Philly P's out, says Bill Starrels of the local Advisory Neighborhood Commission.
