DPW: “We Are Collecting Today”
If you haven't already bothered to figure this out, there's big news in post-snow trash removal. The Department of Public Works has ambitions to brave the snowy side streets and pick up your trash. DPW's Linda Grant tells City Desk: "We are collecting today."
Grant cautions that District trash haulers won't be able to do any alley pickups. If you want your trash collected, Grant says, residents must place the trash in front of their dwellings. She adds that residents must place the trash in dark-colored plastic bags. But will they get to everyone's trash? Not a chance.
"We're going to do our absolute best," Grant says. "There are many side streets that have snow....We've got some narrow streets because there was so much snow. But we will do our best."
Grant adds that recycling pick-up has been suspended.
And, well, if you live in a building that uses a private hauler, you are probably out of luck.

1.Hire an unqualified person to run the city schools.
2. Hire his frat brothers, and family members.
3. Disrespects teachers, students, and their families.
4. Disrespects elderly people like Dr. Dorothy Height.
5. Fires employees of Federally funded daycare centers.
6. Throws out the mentally challenged people. These people are suffering severely.
7. Hogged the media during this summers' Metro train crash.
8. Acts like a child concerning free baseball tickets.
9. Can not answer a question when posed to him on the spot.
10. Opened the schools one day after a blizzard. Thank God the parents complained enough for him to change his mind.

FENTY WAS TRYING TO HURT CHILDREN BY KEEPING SCHOOLS OPEN. Sure, he just likes to injure children for the heck of it. And if it had stayed open. Do you think he was going to send the police to your door and snatch your kids out and make them walk barefoot?
6) And no chance that they had an honest change of mind when they decided to keep the schools closed? They didn't realize it around the same time they closed the Metro? Just more treachery, huh?

If Fenty can kiss your buttocks raise your hand (up high)! I don't care how much money he has backing his campaign, or how many zeros are on a check, one vote per person, last I checked.
You must admit he had us all fooled with his "home grown, down and dirty, community based, knocking on every door" act. He punked a whole city!
One thing I know to be true is that a zebra can't change it's stripes! I bet when he knocks on doors this summer his cronies won't be beside him, I'm certain he will need police escorts.
And to be fair.....just because it's impossible to please everyone doesn't mean you have to hand the whole city your rookie cocky behind to kiss!

This thread starkly illustrates why CP's likely headed for extinction. Four rants that don't come close to commenting on the blog (which was about DPW trying to collect trash despite the blizzard). CP, why don't you set aside a spot for haters to post away? Or, do nothing and continue losing serious readers. So far, it appears you favor the latter.
