City Desk

District Limerick: snOMG

Before you get on your high horse
Your lim'ricist shows her remorse
Turns out I was wrong
The snow came on strong
And so did the show of great force

On U St, the snowball fight surged
The Hummer came; people converged
What started out jolly
Soon turned to pure folly
When gun-toting lawman emerged

Then CNN picked up the feud
(Click here if you haven't yet viewed)
An anarchist protest?
Was more of a snow-fest
Their coverage seems just a bit skewed

What a great limerick and what a great story! This has to be the best way to get D.C. news. Two things I really like about the hyperlinked City Desk story about the snowball fight incident. First, the part where the crowd stoped the snowball fight to help get a police car unstuck in the snow. In the best of all possible worlds, that would be the lead story. Second, the part where the Hummer is described as a "big maroon". Exactly the words Bugs Bunny would use for a Hummer (a probably the driver). Keep up the good work.

    This is NOT funny:
District of Columbia Code § 22-1309.

It shall not be lawful for any person or persons within the District of Columbia to throw any Search or other in any street, avenue, alley, road, or highway, or open space, or public square, or enclosure, or to throw any stone or other missile from any place into any street, avenue, road, or highway, alley, open space, public square, or enclosure, under a penalty of not more than $500 for every such offense.
