"Dime Bags: MPD's Narcotics Strike Force made some busts in unspecified locations in Southeast on Nov. 26. Arresting 11, the cops seized $172 in cash; five $10 bags of marijuana; and 31 $10 bags of crack cocaine, for a haul worth $532."

I hate to be picky here but anyone who reads my blog knows my pet peeve is just labeling everything "Southeast" instead of taking the time and actaully identifying the neighborhood. The street names of these busts were included with the information on the busts which where posted on the 7D list serv. I knew exactly what busts you were talking about just reading the excerpts here. I don't know where you pulled the info for this post but the bust locations are available. In fact most of the busts occured on the 400 b/o Newcomb Street - which by the way is in the Congress Heights neighborhood.

The "Kennedy/Longfellow Street area" is still an open-air drug market whenever a cruiser isn't parked in front of Yums.

@MG: You moved to the wrong side of Kennedy. It's a little safer on the south side (near Jefferson, Ingraham, etc.).

I happen to live on Longfellow Street, across from where the guy was shot, and am ready to get the he** out of here. I knew it was a shady area when we moved in July, but it was the cheapest place we could find in the city that accepted two dogs and a cat. Cops are on our street all the time. And, in the alleyways. And, there are always guys hanging out in front of one particular house and on the corners and I don't think they're selling Girl's Scout cookies.

Whoa, most of these unfortunately aren't that out of the ordinary for where they happened, but a bunch of high school kids breaking into a house and stealing a rifle in Glover Park is a bit random. Wonder what the story was there.
