Well, I have been railing about the need for the Attorney General in the District being changed to an elected position for years. However, never in my recent memory has the position been so intensely abused as it has been under Fenty's Peter Nickles. It is hard to distinguish them man from the Mayor's General Counsel.

Here we have a situation where millions in local funds have been clearly mishandled and mismanaged and this attorney general publicly states that contracts were let illegally. However, he follows up by saying the illegally let contracts are binding. Which leaves me wondering, who in the hell does this man represent. You would think, as the District's top attorney, he'd be more fired up about this than he was about shabby shady used car lots.

Under the Williams Administration you clearly knew the difference between Lynn Becker and Robert Spagnoletti. There was never ever a conflict. Robert Spagnoletti understood that his role was to protect the legal interests of the District of Columbia, even if it was against actions being undertaken by the Mayor and it was Lynn Becker that sat in on legal matters involving Anthony Williams.

Peter Nickles is the greatest of conflicts and he is a conflict propped up and created by Mayor Fenty. The bucks begins and ends with Fenty.

What has transpired with DCHA is nothing less than a bastardization of District law with the silent blessing of the executive whose job it is to enforce the laws of this city.

What a shame and sham.

Wow, that Kathryn Pearson-West article was awful, even by the standards of citizen journalism, the Washington Times, or citizen journalism in the Washington Times. Did she write an outline, expand parts of it into full text, take a break to spraypaint anti-gay insults on a gay couples' door, and then forget to go back and fill out the rest of the article?

Microbeads are also really bad for sea-life.

I'm down like Julie Brown for an elected DA, but I don't see how that will affect Nickles. We'd still have an appointed Attorney General. We need to have the AG an elected official too. I'm not going to vote for some clown like Michael Brown against Fenty just because of Nickles, but I sure would vote for someone else against Nickles if he were to stand for election.

Having a real DA office that could bring charges would bring DC in line with every other city. We don't need AUSAs prosecuting street crimes.

Just through a third of this, but I would say that JRB is definitely on the right track.

Why can't we do something the CORRECT WAY for once???
