Court Monitor: CFSA’s Foster Care Still Fails

AG Peter Nickles push to have the city's child welfare system removed from federal court oversight has hit a road block. In a very non-shocking report [PDF] released today, the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) has found huge gaps in CFSA's foster-care system.
CSSP is the court-appointed monitor. Its reports are the fuel [...]

D.C. Murders Way Down Even East Of The River

Last week, the District had 130 homicides for the year. That's way down from the 172 at the same time last year.

The Salahis’ Publicist Can’t Write

Mahogany Jones, publicist for the infamous party crashing Tareq and Michaele Salahi, put out a statement this morning regarding her clients—specifically, regarding reports that they are demanding upward of $500,000 for media interviews.

Rush Limbaugh, who on his radio show has referred [...]

Weekend in Review—Comma Edition

It was at the very end of an A1 story in the Washington Post. It would have been just another quote, another sound bite that wouldn't have made a difference. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, after all, tosses out throwaway quotes all the damn time. You know how that goes: We're just trying to do our [...]

Michaele Salahi Got Through the White House Gates. Would Michelle Ann Holt Have Gotten Through?

All the stories devoted to the White House security breach refer to the distaff half of the gate crashing duo as "Michaele Salahi."
That's a cool name, one fit for a socialite and state dinner diner.
But in Docket #GT08011085-00 from the Fauquier County courts, a routine traffic case from 2007, the same lady was just plain [...]
