Even the Folger Shakespeare Theater does not limit itself to one playwright. It's ridiculous to say the theater is not viable because the neighborhood has not reacted as favorably to Mr McGinty's plays as he had hoped. The article mentions the Takoma Theater Conservancy, but not the fact that it has, with help from a DC grant, done a viability study that belies the "nail-biting theatre-nostalgics" slur. Finally, it is not the building that supposedly cuts two million from the value of the lot, it's the historic preservation law. Think how rich we could all be if we could change the law whenever we find it convenient to do so! Mr McGinty, as is his right, put on one playwright's plays: his own.
