No, Lea. It was the WP that discovered the contracts issue. The council learned of it from reporters.
So much for the media being light on Fenty. So much for the council caring more for due diligence than political CYA.

The media is also to light on Fenty. The lead story is how Nickles complied rather what was discovered.

Janetta ignored the important fact that it was the council that discovered the contracts discrepency.

The Fenty administration continues with its tone deaf approach to appointments with Millicent Williams. DHSEMA is a shell of the agency that Peter Laporte and Barbara Childs-Pair ran in the Williams administration. Those two (and their senior staff) were adept professionals knowledgeable navigating Washington's byzantine security agencies and protocols. (No tunnel of doom, among other things).

I guess this means that Chief Lanier's Special Operations Division will be the big weight in these matters now that DCHSEMA has a light weight in charge.
