Majority of Voters Polled Disapprove of Fenty
Fifty-one percent of District residents polled in recent days disapprove of Mayor Adrian M. Fenty's job performance, according to WJLA-TV, and get this—"even more believe he cares more about advancing his career than about the city's needs."
The poll, echoing another poll done earlier this summer, shows an emerging racial split on Hizzoner. Where 23 percent of blacks approved of Fenty, 66 percent of whites approved.
And members of his own party like him less than others: "Among Democrats, Fenty had a 54-percent disapproval rating. Throughout the survey, Democrats judged Fenty more harshly than Republicans or independents, who make up a very small percentage of District voters."
All this despite the fact that 72 percent of the 500 households polled by SurveyUSA felt that crime had improved or at least not worsened.
Margin of error for the automated poll is 4.5 percent.

LL received a report this morning that the avuncular WJLA-TV anchor was heard on a robocall sent to D.C. households last night, introducing a poll on local issues.
Among the issues polled: Mayor Adrian M. Fenty's approval; his current support relative to at his inauguration; school reform; and mayor-council relations.
LL is told that the poll results will be released by WJLA-TV at 3 p.m. today and that the results are "interesting."

Wish I would have gotten the call, I would have made is disapproval rating a little higher...and yes i'm black and a democrat!
I know 500 may not be a lot, but it does give hope that someone may be able to edge him out. I just only hope that the voters see beyond political affiliation and skin color in 2010.

Ward 5, I'd be willing to bet good money that the next mayor of DC will be a black Democrat. That doesn't mean it'll be Fenty.

The previous poll said 66 percent of Whites approved of Fenty. However, they also said half of those people if presented with another choice would go with someone else.

I think his numbers are lower.
People lie on polls especially when the candidate is black. My friends (I am African American) who are not black feel it would be perceived negatively to bash Fenty. They were suprised to learn I did not like him either. Once I admitted to that---the negative comments started flying:
He is corrput.
He has too many cronies.
Firetrucks, evicting homeless people, wandering bands of youth in Environmental Corp t-shirts, empty suit with limited speaking ability....
it all came out after I admitted I didn't like him.
The reasons to not like him are diverse, and very personal to each group. But, I don't meet too many people who care for his current job performance and would feel more comfortbale with someone else.
DC Politicos lacks a good pair to not oppose him. They think dollars means votes. Although I have to yet see one with a voter registration card.
Grow a pair and run someone credible against the man. The man is a walking negative ad against himself.

...I have a fantasy of Bill Maher coming to DC hosting a town hall meeting titled "What the Fuck is Going in DC?" and exposes the corruption and chaos happening just a few blocks from the White House.
Obama has comments about a minor shuffle with local police in Cambridge between his black elitist fellow Martha's Vineyard vacationer friend Henry Louis Gates Jr....but has nothing to say about the chaos happening with the public school system and local government right in his own backyard.
I actually hope David Cataina makes a bid for mayor. A lot of the mess we're in with Rhee and Fenty are a result of intiatives approved by a Vince Gray-lead city Council.
And much of Gray's politics are very Barryesque, and not the good years of Barry.

The initial fanfare over this man's acension was surreal. The historical voter turnout in DC has long been approximately 30% of the registered voters. His "sweep" of all precincts was more of an indication that 70% of the registered voters didn't come out. But not all of his Ward4 constituents were bamboozled into believing in his populist posturing. The bloom fell off that rose midway into his first term as council rep.

Adrian Malik Fenty have turned out to be a real monster and Dictator. King Fenty needs to fall very soon from his throne. Adrian have lost a lot of support in his home Ward 4. People who supported this asshole during his run against former Ward 4 Charlene Drew Javis, he have now kicked them to the curb. Fenty is now in bed with white wealthy developers. I can't want for his a$$ to fall, because I want to see this jerk disgraced. I hope the F.B.I. will find some dirt on Fenty and send his a&& to jail like the former Hip Hop mayor of Detriot Kwame Kipatrick. Hopefully, they will put Fenty in a jail cell with a big black guy named Bubba.

Mayor Fenty will not get this District voter's vote. Fenty closed the D.C. Department of Mental Health and privatized it out to contractors. Since the privatization, many mental health clients haven't been able to see a Doctor since May and the Private Providers have been overwhelmed and can't take the overflow of consumers from the former D.C. Department of Mental Health. Consumers are being sent to 35 K Street, NE and this facility can't handle the caseload.
Fenty have disrespected D.C. voters with his my way or the highway attitude. Mayor Fenty doesn't listen to what the citizenry have to say or think. Let's vote him out of office in 2010. I would vote for Moses in the Bible, before I vote for Mayor Adrian M. Fenty.

Yes, I imagine people of a wide variety of backgrounds could fail to understand they should say and write "Fenty has turned out to be" instead of "Fenty have turned out to be," or "Adrian has lost" instead of "Adrian have lost," etc.
They can be seen and heard on any given day in your nearby kindergarten, or grades 1-3.

I am sorry that I didn't get the call either. Maybe a visual would drive the point home even more. I think that everybody should get the new Fenty signs that are out there now. Put it in your yard and write "anybody but" right over his name or get the sign and paint a big symbol in red. The circle with a line through the middle.
