Redskins-Giants Insider Preview

Sunday at 4:15 pm, the Redskins will kick off the season against the New York Giants. Here's all you need to know about the Skins' first opponent:
*Giants DT Jay Alford messed up his knee and is out for the season. This doesn't matter much to the defense, but it'll play a pivotal role in the game. That's because Alford was the team's snapper for field goals. His replacement is virtually guaranteed to screw up when the pressure's on.
*Giants DT Chris Canty, a very expensive free-agent ack from Dallas, is just now starting to practice after suffering a torn hamstring and undergoing some fancy rehab measures. He'll be a non-factor.
*Giants DEs Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck are back and ready for action. Umenyiora suffered a season-dooming knee injury last year, and Tuck had foot problems. There's just no way that the Skins' OTs will be able to handle these fellows.
*Giants MLB Antonio Pierce is still slow and ineffective: Look for Cooley to burn him over the middle all afternoon long.
*Giants have arguably the worst set of wide receivers since the team's Parcells years. Shutting them down demands practice-squad-caliber talent. Skins should rest their secondary's starters until they face a team with real receivers. Their guys are going to be bored jogging around with the NYG wideouts on Sunday afternoon.
*Giants starting RB is Brandon Jacobs, a big guy that all the broadcasters love to praise for being a bruiser. He's not half as effective as his backup, Ahmad Bradshaw, who's smaller yet stronger, and much, much faster.
*QB Eli Manning had a good training camp. Which means he had a good training camp.
*Giants offensive line drew raves from many commentators, including John Madden, who called them the premier line in football. Yet they'll be no match for the reinforced Skins defensive front. Jacobs will get nowhere.

This is by far the most over-simplfied, moronic, and grossly inaccurate "preview" I've ever read. A little bit exaggerated I think? Not to mention, entirely biased.

Ha ha nice write up moron, yeah the giants are aawful compared to the mighty skins. We swept you last year and you can expect another loss on sunday. Your Offense still sucks and Jason Cambell is horrible. AMybe you have forgot Eli manning is a super bowl mvp, how many playoff wins does Jason have? I think you all need to get above five hundred before you talk. See you onmonday when you lose!

Please rest the starting CBs. That would be helpful. I think the Skins D is very strong and will only be stronger this year. They should give the Giants offense fits. The Skins D is not very good and will probably not be able to move the ball very well against the Giants. I look for a low scoring game that will be a dog fight until the end. I look for the Giants offense against the Skins defense to be a touchdown better against the the other way around, but who knows, it's football and anything can happen.

I needed a good laugh from a 5th graders essay. Oh I am sorry, I did not mean to confuse a 5th graders writing to your pre-school attempt at humor.

Yeah that pretty much says it all. Go back to Madden in mom's basement. To anyone realistic Giants or Skins fans, it will be a great game as always. That statement alone beats your blog Erik. Retire.

Are you serious, if so you are also retarded. Actually I take that back you are probably just a die hard fan. There is nothing wrong with that, but you are proffering your personal hopes as facts.
The Giants do have one of the better lines in the NFL.
Not to take anything away from your revamped D (fat albert)
but we will run the ball on you as always. Cooley who is by no means your best weapon on "O" has always given the G-MEN fits, why I wish I knew why.
Our "D" line will dominate your "O" line. Our "Oline will handle your "D" line. and as you should know this is where the games are won and lost. Our running game will be successful taking some of the pressure off our WR corps. Look for good ald fashion smsh mouth football
and then when you least expect it a deep hit to one of our under rated wide outs. Dont forget we are pretty good in the "TE" posision as well.
If there is an area all or almost all Giant fans would agree could use some improvement it is at "LBER" as you stated but with the pressure up front that problem will be negated.
