I used to work for DCPS and you all clearly don't understand the out-of-boundary process. The lottery is one option of several others.

Students are guaranteed a spot at their in-boundary neighborhood schools (and starting this year parents have additional guaranteed options called "destination" schools to accommodate folks affected by school closings).

In order to attend an out-of-boundary school, parents may enter the lottery. Or, you may petition the Principal of the school directly. Principal's are able to make individual admissions decisions about students whether they are in-boundary or not.

There's also a provision in the law that allows the Chancellor to make exceptions.

More than likely, Fenty approached the Principal about admission for his sons and she likely agreed to accept him. Sure, she probably wasn't likely to turn him down. But at the same time, when you are proud of your school (and Lafayette is a great school!), you have nothing to hide.

I love the shirt idea! Just in time for the election too.... but as vindictive as he is, I think people would wait until after he loses to wear them. Lol I bet even those he is making work on his campaign don't vote for him.

About the school lottery, since we parents have all misunderstood the lottery process for the last ten years, how about you ezplain it to us. This would be a perfect thing for the Mayor to do... tell his constituents the process for out of bounds application in the school district that HE is in charge of. Oh well, why should I expect that? He doesn't know whats going on in any other agency.

People aren't asking about your kids Adrian, they're asking about you, as in what did you do o get your kids into one of the most sought after public schools. It isn't just a "perk" when you're taking a spot away from someone else.

In this recession why has no one come up with the bright business idea of creating anti-Fenty tshirts, lawn signs, baseball caps and bumper stickers.

A starter slogan could be..."Fenty Fooled Us" colored in green and white which are Fenty's campaign colors.

Or "Fenty Fire Me" tshirts for Fenty's contribution to DC's unemployment rate.

Just a thought.
