Barry, Staff Critical of Ex-Girlfriend’s Work
The Washington Post has uncovered more of the twists and turns from the love-hate triangle between Councilmember Marion Barry, his ex-girlfriend Donna Watts-Brighthaupt, and her ex-husband Delonta Brighthaupt. The newspaper has obtained e-mails from Barry and his staff that were critical of Watts-Brighthaupt's contract work. The Post writes:
"Barry's complaints included Watts-Brighthaupt's spelling, grammar, tendency to fall behind schedule and failure to be available during business hours. The e-mails appear to confirm that Barry and Watts-Brighthaupt traveled together to Las Vegas and Memphis. Though the city paid for Barry's airfare, the government did not foot the bill for Watts-Brighthaupt, and did not pay for a $736 spa visit at the Paris hotel during their May trip to Las Vegas, travel records show."
In early January, Delonta Brighthaupt stepped into the contract issue with Barry.
Delonta Brighthaupt basically accused the councilmember of using taxpayer funds to keep Watts-Brighthaupt around. In the days before Barry's July 4 stalking arrest, Watts-Brighthaupt had rejected another Barry contract offer.

Barry is trying to smear Donna - if her work was so bad, why did he try to re-hire her in July? & if the person posting here is Donna, she's a smart person & a good writer.
Barry will throw everyone under the bus - Richardson, the Bunns, Rev. Hattie McDaniel, Essita Holmes, et al. Barry will disinter his mother & throw her under the bus if he thinks it necessary.

I am not surprised and don’t forget Donna Watts-Brighthaupt ‘s ex-husband accused Barry of falsifying contract documents in an angry message earlier this year as well. I am sure this contract thing is not going to get swept under the rug like some believe, we will likely wake up to Marion Barry, Anthony Motley, Wise and Donna Watts-Brighthaupt all in handcuffs one morning
