Angry Al, MdB is also got his criticisms too on Kojo's show via callers and email. Mike's rationale for printing this cover wasn't all too compelling either. What's up with MdB kissing the Post's butt when a caller (Linda) talked WCP up?

Eric Wemple is on Kojo's show on WAMU FM right now - 88.5 or whatever on your dial or on the internet.

Kojo has already praised CP & MdB!

No excuse for what is happening and it is not only in Ward 8. Some people are naive to think that when there is so much money around that somebody will forget to wet their beaks. Remember, the people that were forced out of England long, long ago were crooks and thieves. That's why the King of England let them go, they were stealing as much and more than he was. They came to America and he still wanted his cut. The bigger picture will reveal that Mr. Barry is not the only CM doing this.It is called politics, it is a dirty business. Even after Mr. Barry is done, I assure you the next crop will be involved in endeavors like this, too. I will say this about Mr. Barry, he has done it better than his enemies. That is why he is held in such disgust by some citizens.

NYC ex-councilman pleads guilty to three felony counts involving the misuse of public money intended for nonprofit organizations.

This is how it will go down - Barry & his co-conspirators should beware:

Miguel Martinez, a member of the New York City Council whose once-promising political career ended when he abruptly resigned this week, pleaded guilty Thursday morning to three felony counts involving the misuse of public money intended for nonprofit organizations.
Each of the charges carries up to a maximum of 20 years in prison, but under a plea agreement with the United States attorney’s office in Manhattan, prosecutors have recommended that he serve 51 to 72 months. The sentencing was scheduled for Oct. 31.

Of course "Fenty applauds council investigation". Anything the Council does to impode itself and be distracted from the Fenty malfeasance is beneficial to his administration.

"Marion Barry gets “The Creation Of The Black Middle Class”….Pass. " Ha Ha Ha. While it cannot be proven, understand that he did contribute as a catalyst for growth. Affirmative Action, Fed Jobs, and a wealth of employment opportunities from the late 70's - 90's helped create the number of successful, college-educated, African-Americans in this region.

The RiverFront development is overdue but seems to be more saturation in an already saturated market. There are similiar types of commercial real estate already in that area, especially with The Yards coming in soon. The site for RiverFront was hot two years ago, but has sufficiently cooled to luke-warm status. Even if the Nationals were winning, because of the economy, it still seems like now isn't a good time to develop in that area.

@ Angry. Unfortunetly this has becomem too common in Ward 8 politics. I have been trying to get someone to pay attention to the goings on of ANC 8C in Congress Heights. Two of our ANC commissioners have been convicted of embezzlement and theft in the past and one even spent time in jail yet no one in DC goverment including the auditor or the IG will look into all the missing ANC money including 100k in office rent in a run down barbershop - the ANC has met for years for free in a community center.

Unfortunetly this has become too common and there is almost zereo accountability.

WaPo: "Dubious earmarks add to the case for a criminal investigation of Marion Barry." WaPo wants the Feds to investigate [which has apparently already started] along with the DC Inspector General.

Hang on, boys, this is going to be a fun ride. Barry is going to go down for the count, & will probably drag ten or fifteen of his thug followers with him.

& what about that Carmen McCall? How did she dodge hard time for the embezzlement conviction in 2008? Or is she in stir now? In either case, she seems to be a fine person to handle public money - after all, she's only been convicted of stealing public money twice.
