[...] First, the retrocast: At last, a little bit of authentic summer weather for the region, though not quite as hot and humid as we’ve been trained to expect. Good old weather beat writer Martin Weil at the Washington Post is reporting that July thus far has been five degrees cooler than normal. We’ve already nailed this story, however—right here. [...]

The first-aid tent is roomy and well-staffed, even when it is very hot outside. I visited it last year and was mostly pleased with the service.

Maybe we always get such hot weather because the Smithsonian insists on doing Musica Latina, every f*cking year!!!

After three straight years of Musica Latina, we got one year off, and now we're right back with "Music in Latino Culture".

It used to be so much more interesting. The Silk Road was awesome. But it's been steadily declining year after year. It's obsession with Latino music (and when it means Latino, it's mostly just Mexican or central America. They never have Brazilian or Argentinian music) is just a symptom.
