Video Art by the Pool Tonight at the Capitol Skyline

It's interesting how artists many miles and decades apart can latch onto similar images and come to different conclusions.

Check out this work by Puerto Rican artist Papo Colo that's currently on display at this Mexico City art museum. It made me think of local artist Jefferson Pinder and his film "Mule" that was part of the memorable Hip hop art exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery last year. Pinder's piece also involves a man dragging an object through city streets. It was produced in 2006; Colo's, which he titled "Superman 51," was a performance made in 1977.

Visiting the Mexico City exhibition would require heavy outlays of travel cash. But work by Pinder and a few others will be on display tonight beside the pool at the Capitol Skyline Hotel.
