Whoa. Sounds like ANC is feeling a bit worried about its image.
And, perhaps it should be. Especially with Chair Silverstein describing concerned constituents as conspiratorial, gun-toting, porn-loving nuts.
Great that our local rep has such regard for us.

I am the guy who initially emailed Mr Feldstein about the RW house. I don't live as close to the RW as he apparently does, but I still live closer than I would like.

For the record, I'd like to correct something above. Mr. Feldstein said in his response to my email that he was trying to get the number of of public parking spaces blocked for the RW production crew reduced from 12 to 4. He did this in response to a comment I made about how the RW was already having a negative impact on the neighborhood and the show hadn't even started filming yet.

Also, for all those people who keep saying "how much trouble can the people living in the house possibly cause?" or something like that, it's not the residents that worry me, at least not much.

I am far more concerned about the jack-asses who feel compelled to come to or hang out around the house, especially after a long night of drinking in Adams Morgan.

This is why BMP had moved to warehouses for the most recent seasons (excluding Cancun which was in a hotel) in light industrial zones.

The community almost never appreciates the presence of a film crew and cast with all the "excitement" that it brings to the neighborhood...

This is ridiculous.

The kids haven't even moved in yet and everyone is automatically assuming that they are going to be a crazy cast.

Besides, who are they to tell who can or can't go inside THEIR house. If they want a party- they should be able to have a party. It should be like any other house where if noise is excessive than call the cops.

This SHOULD be an experience of a lifetime, unfortunately this neighborhood feels like a jail, I'm sure the kids are going to have a real warm welcome.

It's not a DC story in the neighbors don't react in shock and horror to any change and if the ANC doesn't over-react. But that didn't happen here, so calm down Jule. A dozen parking spaces disappeared without notice or reason, and THAT'S reason for anybody in the neighborhood to declare war. It's also enough to bring out the conspiracy nut in every neighbor. (After all, if they take away your parking, next it'll be your gun, and maybe even your porn!) So somebody sent Mike Feldstein an e-mail wanting to know what's going on. Mike made the right calls, and we hope to get somebody from the Mayor's office and hopefully somebody from the production company at our meeting. We'd like to establish a line of communication, so that we'll know in advance if parking spaces are going to disappear or other such horrors will be visited upon us. That's it. Nothin' to see here, folks. Everybody move on.

Mike, the ANC Commissioner mentioned in this blog, is a good friend and a good commissioner. I'd really hate for anyone to assume he's being anti-fun here, because Mike is truly a very pro-fun guy and has zero NIMBY in his system. He was just quoting what the company told him, not making a statement against parties. Mike's just trying to ensure that a major media company's ongoing production won't unnecessarily impact folks in the apartments across the street, etc. Think of it this way: TV or movie production company moves into your block, for a couple months; you want to get the details.
