I am desperately hoping that the next contender for Mayor is an outsider to District government, i.e. not a sitting elected official. Everyone right now is posturing, nobody on the Council or in the Executive Office are governing with the people in mind. You cannot tell me that it is responsible to expand an employment for children when their parents are unemployed. In fact, I actually heard the Mayor state that these kids will be the major breadwinner in their households, as if that is something to be PROUD of. It was contemptuous if you ask me.

If you are not a local politician, have a passion for the District, and want to be Mayor, you have my vote!!!

I think it would be better as a 6 week program, frankly. That's based on my experience long ago as a camp counselor, and current experience supervising one of these kids; they were useful/fun to have around, but beyond 6 weeks, it becomes more of a pain for both parties.

Time for Harry to go. He has officially pissed me off. Crime!!! So the Summer Jobs program is to hire criminals??? What happens when these kids get off of work with cash, I guess they'll just go home.

I am not saying that our children are criminals ( there are a few) but to say we have to give them jobs and cash or there will be crime. Why don't we give DC's unemployed summer jobs, they have to have as much experience as 16 year olds.

Sorry screwed up a bit. That second reference to Kwame should be Michael Brown. So Michael Brown voted for; Catania is missing from your list of againsts.
