Nice Photo, but are you inadvertantly advertising that you can buy "crack" off of 6th and Atlantic SE?
12:21 pm
Not my intention, are shoes on a wire a sign I don't know about?
These shoes have always interested me and everybody seems to have their own theory/explanation
12:35 pm
Not to fall into a stereotypical urband legend, but the "shoes" on the wire is an enigmatic symbol. I've even heard the "type" of shoes determines what type of drugs. Anyways, in many urban places, NY, DC, MD, DE, VA, etc. the Police watch out for "shoes". Not saying that this wasn't some dumb prank (and a waste of some shoes that could be given to the homeless), but the fact remains that there could be drug activity nearby.
I wouldn't recommend driving through the area asking "where to cop", but be aware of your surroundings. And if by chance you photograph the drug activity, turn it in. :)
BTW, your photos you shoot are awesome. I like the candid shots, as they leave the viewer to tell the story of the subjects.

Q, Thanks for the rundown on the legend. Years ago we did a story on a frat house at GW that had a tree out front with dozens of pairs hanging from it, the "legend" there was evidence of sexual conquest. Your version is more intersting
Thanks for the kind BTW.

Wow. Drug activity in the alley off of the 600 b/o Atlantic SE? (rolls eyes)
3:22 pm
Shoes, conquests, it's an enigmatic symbol for something nefarious. Downtown Rez, you should be shamed of yourself, LOL! Let me find "Ward 8 Rez" and ask him. LOL!

I didn't say the shoes were a symbol of drug activity there, just that there is drug activity there. :)

It is indeed small plastic bag territory...
10:16 pm
Hey maybe we sho9uld ban the small plastic bags then?
