Aw c'mon Tom. Bring on the Referendum. At least the people get to choose this time instead of the Council chosing and causing the controversy. Where else can you have staunch Republicans and Marion Barry arm-in-arm on the issues? If DC Govt hasn't been the laughing stock before (stadium tickets, Fenty, etc.) it surely will be after this is over with.

As for the other postings (seems Examiner heavy, but I digress), it's honestly not surprising that OUC system's have issues. Knowing and listening to several people who used to work there only cements what is now being brought to light. Usually whistleblowers are punished severely, so if Richardson is still employed by the end of the month, that's a record.

Financial Disclosure for Fenty?!? What is this, an article from The Onion? And you are surprised because... If you really want to check this, see what they file (expense reports and all) after they return from Las Vegas at the International Council of Shopping Centers. Geez, what type of croc conference is this. More TIFs to bring more corporate entities to DC to abuse the citizens and gentrify the neighborhoods all in the name of Economic Development.

Oh great now DC will once again be at the center of debate. Now all the crazies from the GLBT and Social COnservative circles will descend on my great city. Im pretty sure that half of those people probably didn't even understand the second question. I really dont want there to be a referendum and have to vote on this..

To Clarify LL's post about the Ward 5 Democrats meeting, the Ward 5 Democrats did not vote on any resolution. They took a secret ballot strawpoll asking two questions (the two questions were written as follows, 1) Do you support the council of the District of Columbia's vote on the "Disclosure to the United States District Court Ammendment Act of 2009" to recognize all marriages legally performed in other states.51 people voted yes and 87 voted no, 2) Do you support a referrendum on the "Disclosure to the United States District Court Ammendment Act of 2009"? 47 people voted yes 78 voted no. So, 51 people don't approve the council's vote to recognize same sex marriages from other jurisdictions but 78 do not support a referrendum.
