Kornheiser Leaves Monday Night Football

The Washington Post is reporting that Tony Kornheiser will not be coming back to the "Monday Night Football" anchor booth. He will be replaced by former Bucs coach Jon Gruden. Kornheiser seemed to have a hard time fitting in during the telecasts. His jokes often fell flat among the all the x's and o's and football nerdery. I wished he had more airtime to let rip his one-liners and caustic asides. Anyway, Kornheiser apparently decided to not come back because he would have to spend too much time on airplanes. The Post has Kornheiser's written statement:

"'I am totally grateful for the MNF opportunity that I truly enjoyed the last three seasons,' Kornheiser said in his written statement. 'I feel we got better each year. My fear of planes is legendary and sadly true. When I looked at the upcoming schedule it was the perfect storm that would've frequently moved me from the bus to the air. I kept looking at the schedule the past month and wanted to find a way to quietly extricate myself.'"

TK Stack Money is suited for radio and PTI/The Sport Reporters. He should stick to what works.
