Golden Triangle BID to Exchange Flowers for Phones

ALTERNATE TITLE: SOLVE EDITOR'S FENG SHUI PROBLEM, RECEIVE PRESS COVERAGE

Next Monday, you can bring your old cell phone to Farragut Square Park, where the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District will recycle it; in exchange you'll receive a yellow flower.

What's really going on here is that I like things to be arranged in groups of three. I don't know, maybe it's because I've edited/written a number of trend stories. And I had three plants on my windowsill, and one of them died.

According to a press release that accompanied an attractive flower sent to this staffmember, people trading in phones will also be eligible for prizes from BID members such as Results Gym, the Melting Pot, BLT Steak.

Why is it so hard to admit that this is the way things work? You send me a flower, I put up a blog post because I'd feel guilty just popping the plant up on my sill. It's a daffodil, anyway. It won't be around long.

Flowers for Phones is just the beginning of what's shaping up to be a blockbuster spring for the BID. It'll be installing 30 new bike racks and doing some aggressive landscaping, eventually covering "70 percent of all building landscaping...with yellow flowers...a simple way to remind people that they are visiting or working in the Golden Triangle neighborhood," according to the press release. Also, trees will be planted, newspaper boxes will be spruced up, light poles will be painted, and a "rolling cleanup" program will be instituted.

And Earth Day will be celebrated by introducing more stuff into the ecosystem. Oh, you've really lost touch with all your beliefs now, haven't you?

You spineless sellout. You've sold your integrity for the price of a bulb.
