State of the District Speech Mysteriously Postponed
About an hour ahead of its scheduled delivery, the mayor's office this morning sent out an advisory informing reporters that Adrian M. Fenty's State of the District address has been postponed to Thursday.
Now the mayor's office postpones appearances fairly regularly, but to reschedule such a high-profile event—Hizzoner's statement of the prior year's accomplishments and the coming year's priorities ahead of the mayoral budget submission, due Friday—is more than a little head-scratching.

UPDATE, 10:07 A.M.: Here's a Twittered conspiracy theory from Examiner's Michael Neibauer: "Now it conflicts with council's DOES oversight hearing, ie summer jobs fiasco. Hmmm."
UPDATE, 10:30 A.M.: Says spokesperson Mafara Hobson, "Turns out, Thursday is a better day," adding, "Want council to be able to come." (LL adds: Well, everyone but Vince Gray and Mary Cheh, anyway, who will be holding hearings then...)

Beginning to see pattern of behavior here. Tax office gets busted (Fenty has no idea what was going on), Technology office gets busted (Fenty has no idea what was going on), HIV rate in the city is at epidemic levels (Fenty gets caught flat footed by the report). Now Fenty postpones his state of the district address.
I wonder how long it will take DC residents to realize Fenty is all hat and no cattle. Seriously, has anyone watched this guy on TV? Its amazing how much he talks yet says nothing...

I could not have said it better. Problem is, unless we can find someone better, who do we vote for next year?! I'm frustrated having voted this clown in. Selling schools to his cronies for $1.00 and such, makes me sick. Oh how I hope he loses to someone in the mayoral election. Keep hope alive !
