Did Anybody Go to the Phish Reunion?

If so, did Trey Anastasio twiddle his tone and volume knobs after every lick? If so and if so, did anybody tell him to stop?

Most importantly: Was there Hacky Sack?

Given the build-up, I'm amazed how little I've heard of the three reformation shows.

Perhaps they waited too long.

Wow Dave, ever heard of Google? Or, better yet, check out the coverage on the music site of your sister paper in Tampa, tampacalling.com.

PS: I was there. It was spectacular. Never saw one hacky sack (shocking, I know. Lots of frisbees and cornhole, though), but Trey did fiddle with his nobs a lot. Hope that helps.

Why post this on City Desk and not Black Plastic Bag, the CP's music blog?

I hope this post was just a product of a bad day.

What the hell? I write a smart post about pot and video games, and nobody bats an eye. McKenna dedicates four sentences to a washed-up jam band and THE PEOPLE GO BATSHIT.

    Also, Oysterhead > Phish.

    Cornhole??

@Hess: Kind of like horseshoes, except with bags of dry corn/beans instead of horseshoes, boxes with slanted tops instead of poles, and it's played by douchebags instead of Korean War vets.

Well, there are only 2 articles in the NYT + 850 articles on google news. Guess you forgot to look.

"smart post about pot and video games"--let's just enjoy that one for a sec

    AH:
"cornhole" is up there with the greatest giggle words of all time. who's with me?

back to me: my first trip to the Midwest was about 20 years ago to cover some auto auction in some storybook Indiana town called Auburn, and my host gave me a tour of the burg and was most proud to show me, without irony, the "bunghole factory."

all these years later, whenever i think of indiana, i can only think of that bunghole factory. and i giggle.

but, come to think of it, these phish posters seem like they spent the weekend touring the bunghole factory. didn't i just ask if anybody went to the damn shows?

    "washed-up jam band"

I bet there are a lot of presumably non-washed-up bands out there who wished they could sell out a dozen shows in 15 seconds, and have their biggest concern be the fact that their concert tickets are selling for $1000 on the secondary market

@Dave: I went to one of the damn shows. It was fun. Even at their worst they were still putting on one of the best rock & roll shows out there. Where else can you get almost four hours of music, the best light show in the business, general admission, and minimal security for fifty bucks?

Pure visceral pleasure. And they were far from their worst last weekend.
