Jim Sebastian of DDOT says that as he understands it, "mopeds and bikes and cars are not allowed within the soft perimeter (ie south of k street)."

Do it! We are coming. There are so many people that have put off their plans and are not thinking...I don't want to miss this historic event. Many people will not have firm plans, and will be bringing bikes. The valet system is imperative, and the city would be completely bass-akward to make it unavailable. Whatever might seem to take higher priority (space/management/access) will be eclisped by having bikers park any and everywhere.

[...] Local media has reported that the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) is working with local authorities to establish free bike valets as part of the inauguration festivities. Now, the news is also posted on WABA website as well. WABA wants to set up three valet stations within walking distance to the National Mall so cyclists can drop off their bikes and hike on over to the inaugural events. The WABA has run bike valet services in the past for the National Cherry Blossom Festival, the Fourth of July, and smaller neighborhood events.
